Close your eyes and follow the sound with your third eye...
Athens-born, London-raised producer Leonidas draws from his life experiences and uses warm vintage analog equipment to express those magical moments, on this deep and varied debut EP.
A1: Sunrise feat. Duchy is a fierce, slow-mo disco-funk groove brought to life by RIM’s favorite singer Duchy, whose vocal captures the spirit of the summer after-party. A2: Sunrise dub seamlessly complements the vocal mix by going deeper into the sunset/sunrise groove with cut up vocals/harmony rhythms and spaced out effects. B1: Deep E feat. TK1 captures the raw energy and audio fidelity of vintage 70s & 80s machines expressed through this pure house groove. Co-written by the label founder Kay Suzuki, B2: Interstellar Vibrations feat. Kay Suzuki is a nine minute psychedelic journey, celebrating the synchronicity of the universe and meeting of kindred spirits, through a symphony of analog synthesizers. Digital EP includes bonus track : Interstellar Meditation feat. Kay Suzuki - A beatless ambient mix of B2 inspired by sharmanic experience both of them have and an ideal mix for deep meditation.

Representing Amsterdam's eclectic music scene, Leyo and his crew run the club night, Boogieman which brought masters of boogie-ism in the city such as Peven Everett, Karizma, Atjazz, IG Culture, DJ Center, Greg Gauthier and Kay Suzuki. Not to mention Leyo's production skill and his pure musical mindset were also approved by the world exclusive annual workshop, Red Bull Music Academy in 2008.
Leyo remixed two songs from Kay Suzuki's album Consciousness. Don't B Afraid Of Da Future was originally named by IG Culture without his knowledge. The true story goes like this - At the legendary party CO-OP in PLASTICPEOPLE back in the day, IG Culture's laptop DJ system had crushed during his set and music stopped completely. Fair enough, a gentleman from the dark corner of the dance floor shouted "Stick to vinyl DJ! forget the computer!" then IG quickly recovered the system and responded, "Yo! Don't b afraid of da future!" and played the draft version of this original track - Thus it was named after the incident by Kay Suzuki… Leyo Remix kept the futuristic warm pad sound and its uplifting chords structure, and laid down on much more shuffled Afro house beats while emphasising the hypnotic synth riff with sneaky bleeps. Recommended on early morning set! Step Into My Life feat. Duchy(Leyo's Dub End Mix) has gone even deeper twist on the original. Again, emphasised the hypnotic synth riff and slightly dubbed down Duchy's vocals are floating on top of the settled groove afro house beats with deep wobbling baselines.
Osunlade (Yoruba Soul) "I really love Step Into My Life! great job"
Laurent Garnier (F Communications) "Yes Yes Yes… love this. Thanks for the link. Full support from me"
C3i (Lazer Kru) "LEYO reminding that fear really has no room, no matter how you view time in reference to space. Leyo ensuring the groove is ample yet subtly in its affects upon you. Step Into My Life with Duchy on the complimentary vocal tones! This is “Round”, it cycle circular, sound vortices in “Motion”. Kay Suzuki - Big up your Solar Plexus!"
Marcia Carr (Lady Bugz) "Both the mixes are tremendously good, just right for my bag of goodies - deeply soulful to make all sorts of pretty shapes on the floor. Nice one Leyo 9/10"
Kristi Lomax (KPFK, L.A) "Thanks for the latest tune. I'm def diggin' "don't b afraid of the da future" and will support on my L.A. radio show"

Afrobuddha is the hotly-awaited new music project from East London-based Japanese producer/DJ duo Kay Suzuki and Koichi Sakai, arguably two of the biggest and most respected names pushing at the boundaries of the capital's independent world music scene over the last five years.
Resident DJs and producers at some of East London's most celebrated underground venues such as Passing Clouds and The Empowering Church as well as a host of superior quality music events and festivals across the capital and beyond, Suzuki and Sakai have been taking followers of music par excellence on a journey through their own art and philosophy via rhythm oriented genres as diverse as house, disco, Afrobeat and reggae sweeping up into the mix the essence of London's vibrant multi-cultural society, celebrating in particular the spiritual affinity they feel with the African and Afro-Caribbean music community.
The first release to hail from the Afrobuddha banner will be OBAME, a powerful collaboration with the KAKATSITSI DRUMMERS, a Ghanaian drum and dance troupe, featuring pioneering drummers from the Ga tribe of Southern Ghana, with their roots in the fishing community of Jamestown. They combine traditional drumming grooves, played on a wide variety of West African drums, with melodies from bamboo flutes, xylophone and folkloric chants in stunning harmony.
OBAME is the product of three years' incubation and development of inspiration following Suzuki and Sakai's meeting with the Kakatsitsi Drummers back in 2008. The track fuses their intoxicating raw drumming, traditional chants and bamboo flutes with Afrobuddha's unique rendering of modern dance music to create a truly spiritual dance music of our time.

Live upbeat dance music with flavours of Funk, Afrobeat, Highlife, Chimurenga and Dub.
Soundspecies is the alias of brothers Henry and Oliver Keen, London-based producers, musicians and DJs who have grown up making music together. This new live project is led by Oliver Keen inspired by his travel to West Africa. Joined by his other brothers Barnaby and Nathaniel(Andreya Triana)with honorary brother Dave De Rose (Mulatu Astatke, Mark Ronson, Moloko), they created unique live upbeat music with strong influence of West African rhythms and grooves.
Soundspecies' debut album was released on BurntProgress records - founders of the legendary club night CDR held at Plastic People in London. 'Can We Call It Love', from their follow up 12" EP topped record of the week charts on various polls and was included on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Bubblers vol.4. They also recorded for Gilles Peterson at the legendary BBC Maida Vale studio and count Mary Ann Hobbs and Ras Kwame among their supporters. Soundspecies performed at numerous clubs and festivals around the world including The Big Chill, Bestival, Sonar (Barcelona), Secret Garden Party and Red Bull Music Academy (Seattle).
Bamana Project
Oliver Keen wrote the music for the Bamana Project after a musical pilgrimage to West Africa in 2006. "I arrived first in Dakar, Senegal and spent a month in that crazy, hot, dusty, choking, diesel-fumed air, chilling by day and waiting for the nightly feasts of Mbalax and Salsa,” he says. “Amongst other adventures I got to sit in on bass a few times with a top Dakar band and somehow ended up as a backing singer at the famous St Louis Jazz Festival! After Dakar I crossed overland to the famous musical metropolis that is Bamako (Mali) where I stayed for another two weeks before moving onwards down to Accra (Ghana) where my trip ended." "It was in the majestic, colourful city of Bamako that the Bamana Project was born. My brain was constantly buzzing with inspiration, my guitar and ideas pad locked in my hand, fed by nightly trips around the city on the back of a scooter to the music clubs for more nightly musical feasts of ancient beats and the never-ending ngoni riffs. Always heavy, HEAVY grooves!"
On his return to the UK, Oliver wrote and developed the material and then got his brothers Nathaniel and Barnaby on board, along with drummer and friend Dave De Rose to create a live record as a Soundspecies side-project. "The name was chosen with respect to the people who shared with me the music that inspired me. The Bamana people are part of the Mande ethnic group that make up part of the population of Mali and various west African countries."
